I really like the setup and the characters of this show. A wannabe noir detective, an androgynous, snarky living database, and the excitable daughter of the man who taught them vs. a crime family full of power struggles and powerful personalities. But there really is a lot of filler, a lot of shallow monster-of-the-week, and a lot of things not developed to anywhere near their full potential. That said, the final stretch where all the hints and plans start coming together is *really* good.

A great first half, but the second half gets bogged down in filler. Most of the characters are always great, but the series overall is hurt by its second half.
