It starts off a little slower, with poorer world building, but once your past that first episode, what follows is an adventury through space and, in a sense, even time. The characters are very distinct, with the addition of an intersex character into the mix, and the dynamics are largely fun and wholesome. The world's are intriguing, I just wish we got more of more of them, you know? The ending is a touch rushed, but otherwise satisfying. Full of mystery and frenship, it's an enjoyable watch.

Despite the description, it's not a survival sci-fi. Going into it with that expectation will disappoint you. It's a slice-of-life, the setting is just there to set up specific character and power dynamics. It's a very flawed show, and many of the events are bizarre, unexplained, and contrived. There are blatant plot devices without further narrative justification. Its representation of women and intersex people is often exploitative. But it's barely satisfying enough to maybe compensate.
