Season 1 - The noted robotics expert Dr. Kohmyoji created a powerful android to protect Japan from evil forces. When Hakaider starts his own evil organization, Dr. Kohmyoji's android, Kikaider 01, awakens to fight Hakaider.
Hakaider has three assistants, Red Hakaider, Blue Hakaider, and Silver Hakaider. Together, they devise various schemes to cause destruction, but Kikaider 01 stops them all. Kikaider appears to assist Kikaider 01. Their chief goal is to capture a young boy, named Akira. (wikipedia)

Three years have passed since Kikaida defeated the DARK. A thunderstorm heralds the appearance of Hakaida, now possessing the brain of the deceased Professor Gill, followed by Red Hakaida, Blue Hakaida and Silver Hakaida. They are after a young boy who is the key to a secret that will plunge the world into darkness. When the Hakaida Force attacks, Kikaida 01, the android of justice, goes into action to challenge them!
Ichiro tries to determine who Akira is, by searching for the woman in a photograph with the boy. When the trail leads them to a hospital, where they discover the woman has vanished, the Hakaida Force ambushes them. With his legs crippled by the Hakaida Four-Stage Attack, can Kikaida 01 protect Akira when his solar energy starts to ebb?
Just when 01 is about to be destroyed by the Hakaida Force, the sound of a guitar is heard and Jiro appears on his Sidemachine. After the Kikaida Brothers fend off the Hakaida Force, they leave Akira at a school for safekeeping. But, it is not long before the entire school is kidnapped… Can the Kikaida Brothers save the children in time?
Kikaida beats up on Hakaida, 01 destroys Ghost Cat. Big Shadow is still just a shadow.

The ghost of Professor Gill summoned by Big Shadow reveals to the Shadow organization and Hakaida that the boy Akira is his son. Half of the plans for the Giant Devil Robot are tattooed on his back
Reaper Robot and Shadow Knight fail to capture Akira, the son of Professor Gill and his guardian Reiko thanks to Kikaida and Kikaida-01. Later Reiko encounters a woman and a boy, she seems to know them but they run from her. The plot thickens. As another mysterious woman and boy are introduced.
Rieko is captured. Hakaida tries to use an American bomber plane to nuke Tokyo.
Giant Devil Robot is activated but Kikaida and Kikaida-01 destroy it before it really gets started. For a time The Shadow will try to rebuild it but eventually, they give up on it.
Hakaida calls upon the spirit of Professor Gill which appears to give him a new circuit that Hakaida uses to make himself stronger. The Shadow monster King Indian plans to deprive Ichiro of sunlight those rending the solar-powered android incapable of transforming into Kikaida-01.
The monster of the week is Hakaida who murders people Big Shadow orders him to. Big Shadow is finally seen as a man wearing a black mask with two horns and, dressed in black clothing and a cape. A strange doctor is using transfusions of blood from young women to create Vampire Bat monsters. And Hakaida points his gun at Shadow Knight, not Kikaida-01.
Scorpion Strong impersonating a boy's school teacher is teaching students to shoot Jiro and Ichiro
Ichiro cannot figure out why Shadow Devil Starfish won't stay dead. Its because they are actually twins.
A girl's parents are replaced with pig monsters. When she finds her real parents she and Reiko, Misao, Hiroshi and Akira are captured. When Hakaida plants a bomb to kill all the prisoners Misao tries to get him to free Hiroshi and Akira, reminding him that without the boys The Shadow cannot rebuild Giant Devil Robot. Hakaida just laughs. And leaves them all to die.
Big Shadow summons Zadam, "the Devil's Child" to Earth from the Moon. Both Shadow Knight (who resents Big Shadow giving so much of his responsibilities to Hakaida) and Hakaida (who doesn't want another rival) attack the two-headed, four-legged Zadam but he zaps them with a burst of energy from one of his twin tridents. Misao, Hiroshi and Akira (Misao has apparently realized she has to take care of Akira now too ) meet a woman on a cruise ship who is a target of the Shadow. She is ultimately captured. despite 01 destroying Long-Nosed Goblin Flying Squirrel. Ends on a cliffhanger.
Ichiro who requires sunlight to transform into Kikaida-01, figures out that sunlight is actually Zadam's weakness. The Shadow releases a prisoner but its a trap she has a bomb attached to her body. Ichiro/Kikaida manages to turn the tables on the Shadow and destroy Hell Amphibian the monster from the sea. Then he faces Shadow Knight, the First Executive Officer of ...
Still out of town, on vacation, Ichiro, Misao, Hiroshi and Akira find themselves in a town were the men are being replaced with disguised Shadow Men. The human men are bedazzled and hypnotized by a beautiful woman, who in in reality a hideously ugly monster. She is able to blind Ichoro with a flash of light which fries his visual circuits. Zadam creates new monsters Raiin + and Raijin -. Mari turns out to be Bijinda. Bjinda does not want to do evil things but has no choice. With tears in her eyes, Bijinda is forced to carry out Big Shadow's order to kill Hiroshi and Akira but Ichiro saves them. Hakaida appears to wound 01. Bijinda turns on Hakaida. Zadam monitoring all this puts a stop to it.
Zadam tries to have Bjinda disassembled but she escapes. Ink Squid passes out pens loaded with exploding ink. Bijinda destroys more Shadowmen than Kikaida 01 does.
Bijinda was allowed to escape (without her knowledge) in the previous episode. Hiroshi and Misao are playing at being wrestlers with Akira as the ring announcer. Kikaida 01 fights Big Gorilla'while Mini Gorilla hides. 01 destroys Big Gorilla 'and Mini Gorilla records every move 01 makes. 01 does not perceive the small and passive Mini Gorilla to be a threat.
Lunatic Bat a monster with a clock in its chest targets humans wearing watches will a beam that turns them violent. And then plans to destroy Binjinda but Ichro/Kikaida 01 comes to her rescue.
Women are attacked by floating kimonos which eventually turn into four Kimono Poison Fang monsters. Mari tries to befriend another child. Misao is jealous of Kikaida 01 and Bijinda's growing friendship.

The Shadow launches it new battle ship, an aircraft that flies out of the ocean wind using a giant fan creates tornadoes. Its piloted by Satan. Kikaida 01 and Waruda are fighting each other when they are sucked up and tossed around by the battleship's artificial tornado. Ichiro and Waruda are found unconscious by Hirosi, Akira and a girl selling flowers.
A young man, Eisuke Toge, who hates robots falls in love with Mari at first sight, not realizing she is actually the android Bijinda.
Eisuke Toge finally accepts that Ichiro/01 and Bijinda are not evil but still doesn't realize that Mari is Bijinda. Until Mari transforms before his eyes and sadly tells him there can be no love between a human and an android.
01 is forced to destroy Waruda, though he tries not to. Mari/Bijinda is saddened by Waruda's demise though she understands 01 had to defend himself.
