Mark Twain was the man and writer that Ernest Hemingway so wanted to be but was not. If you don't believe me then watch Burns' film about Hemingway. To put it bluntly, Hemingway was a fraud while Twain was "the American". The insights of Arthur Miller and Hal Holbrook are particularly poignant.

4 hours? Way too long. Each time they recited another one of his witty lines, I kept expecting a rimshot. Not a Twain fan.
