Medici boasts a lavish production, but delivers a disappointingly inconsistent show. The cast is a mixed bag, a jumble of GoT alumni and Italian actors - the latter with some noticeable ADR issues - who all seem to deliver lines to the empty space between the camera and their partners. Not helped by the writing, which seems to build scenes round soliloquys (which are well delivered) and exposition. Again not helped by a plot that unsubtly portrays the Medici as saviours and others as fools.

Season 1: 70 Honestly this seems like a show that’s best to view the first season and ignore the second. I’ve only seen one episode of the second season, but it wasn’t nearly as good as the first, and other reviews would indicate that as well. If they make a third season jumping forward in time, I might give it another shot.
