Dark & gripping series that weaves together a huge convoluted plot relatively well. The structure is very uneven and it switches gears quite a lot but manages hang together with its compelling characters & themes. It was a pretty tall order to adapt these books in any coherent way but the essential parts shine enough to carry the scrambling narrative. Works a lot better as a mini-series than as films. Parts of it feel more like plot than story but really commanded my attention at key points.
