Oprah and the Color Purple Journey

Promo puff piece for the new musical movie does benefit from Oprah’s apparent passion for Walker’s story, then and now (the meeting between Winfrey and Brooks is of course contrived beyond belief, but damn it all if I wasn’t reaching for the tissues!) Otherwise, pretty much what you’d expect from the title and description; it’s nice to have Spielberg on hand to presumably lend his weight and credibility to the enterprise – it’s ultimately a fine and easygoing overview of the film’s production.
