I used to love drag culture: the quirkiness, defiant aesthetics, countercultural courage. But the more mainstream it triumphantly becomes, the “underdog” bitchiness turns into smug entitlement & comes to embody the worst traits of its opponents. This show marked a cultural shift away from reality & the demise of secularism & civility on the mainstream left. A lot of baggage to place on one show, and prolly a symptom way more than a cause, but either way, this bachernalia sucks; I'm going home.

The backstage drama between contestants was always the least-interesting part of Drag Race, however despite it's emphasis on the cattiness of the queens, Untucked has provided some really emotionally touching moments as well, such as when contestants get messages from back home, creating moments so touching I cry until my mascara is runny and my fake eyelashes fall out.
