In this mystery, Holmes pursues his arch-enemy Moriarty (John Huston) to New York, which the villainous scoundrel has carried out the ultimate bank robbery. Meanwhile, Holmes enjoys a blossoming romance with Charlotte Rampling, who becomes the target of a kidnap by (yes, you've guessed it) Moriarty. (imdb)

Kudos to Roger Moore for playing Sherlock Holmes as 007. This is 1976 and so Moore at this time had effectively become James Bond (not just an actor portraying James Bond). For sure, James Bond and Mr Holmes, as traditionally realised, are very different characters, but for mysterious reasons it does not seem to matter here. While Macnee plays Nigel Bruce as Dr Watson as opposed to anything original, Rampling is breathtaking as Adler and Huston as Professor Moriarty is diabolical(ally good).

Em honra do centenário de Patrick Macnee. Meh. Só me fez ficar pensando que o Roger Moore é o terceiro Sherlock Holmes mais bonito, só perdendo para o Henry Cavil e o Wishbone. Rá! BlurayRip R.A.R.B.G.

Acceptable mystery yarn never rises above standard 70s British TV fare, and too often surrenders to camp, but a distinguished cast (headed by Moore as Holmes and Huston letting it all hang out as Moriarty) does its best with fairly insipid material.
