Under his father's orders, Soma attempts to transfer into Togetdu Tea House Cullinery Academy. There he meets a student, Nakiri Erina possess the best palate: the God Tongue.

After barely passing the entrance exam, Soma inadvertently alienates his new classmates with a thoughtless announcement. Later, he's matched up with an at-risk student desperate to stay in school.

After his classes, Yukihira has to take a test to get into his dorm. There he meets his dorm mates, and is tested upon by one.

Eager to join the Elite Ten, Soma challenges Isshiki Satoshi-the only other second-year student from the high school division-to a cook-off. But Soma quickly discovers there is more to the challenge than he anticipated.

Soma while looking at food clubs is drawn to the Donmono Research Society. He and Megumi decide to check it out, but find the club leader, Konishi losing over is failing club.

Mito Ikumi and Yukihira Soma go head to head at the Shokugeki! Ikumi, known as "the Meat Master", seems to have the whole crowd on his side. In order to save the Don RS, Soma has to prove himself a worthy opponent.

A brutal training camp is underway to whittle down new students, but those in Polar Star Dorm are determined to survive. Trying to survive Soma may have met his match.

Soma and his teammates are challenged with making a Japanese dish using only locally available ingredients. Inspired by the challenge, Soma grabs Megumi and heads off to go "shopping".

The Polar Star Members have survived the first day of camp. Megumi finds her confidence by successfully supporting Soma. The next day the duo will have to get passed Shinomiya, who already expelled 30 students the previous day.

Hoping to save Megumi from expulsion, Soma challenges Shinomiya to a Shokugeki. After Shinomiya refuses, Dojima forces him to accept, with one condition: Megumi must be the main chef, and if they lose, Soma and Megumi will BOTH be expelled!

With their expulsion on the line, the unofficial Shokugeki between the Megumi-Soma pair and Shinomiya begins. The first challenge: the Rainbow Terrine, made from seven types of vegetables. Megumi, the main chef, steps up to the plate ... literally.

On the third night of camp they are given a new trail for the next morning: to come up with a menu item that uses eggs.

In the egg-based buffet challenge, the student's must convince guests to consume all 200 servings-in only two hours! The problem is, Soma's souffle omelets keep falling before anyone has a chance to eat them.

Now that training camp is over, the remaining students return to Totsuki Academy. But when Soma misses his bus, he finds himself in a car with Erina, who informs him of the impending Autumn Elections.

It's a family affair, literally, when Soma's father, Joichiro, appears unexpectedly at Polar Star ... and Soma soon learns some surprising truths about his father's past.

Soma returns home to discover a swarm of people waiting for Yukihira to reopen, and he is more than happy to serve them. But things take a turn when he learns that a new shopping complex threatens to steal his customers.

With Sumire Avenue Shopping District under threat of extinction thanks to the karaage specialty store, Soma enlists Kurase and Nikumi to help save the restaurant with a totally new concept: the Walk-n-Eat Karaage.

The names of the students who'll participate in the Autumn Elections are posted in Totsuki Academy as the 1st semester draws to a close. Those on the list are given a special assigned topic where they have to make a curry dish.

With the challenge of creating a curry dish set, many of the contestants set off to visit their families and study up on spices during the remainder of the summer while Soma stays at the dorms to try out various combinations. The Autumn Election preliminaries soon arrive, with only the top four from each group able to make it through to the tournament phase.

The Autumn Elections preliminaries have begun. The top 4 students from the tournament will advance to the main tournament.

As judging begins, Hisako, Takumi, and other members of Group B are already winning big. But with Megumi's dish the last one on the judging table, can she pull an upset and take the top spot?

Alice, Hisako, Takumi and Megumi are all on track to make it through the round, but in Group A, Sendawara Natsume keeps scoring contestants with 0's! Later, Alice's aide, Kurokiba Ryo finally reveals his true colors.

At the final round of the preliminaries, both Megumi and Soma are overshadowed by a very unlikely opponent: Kurokiba-who appears out of nowhere to claim the top spot. Can Megumi and Soma unseat him?

The OVA is centered around the Aldini brothers visiting Tokyo , with some other known characters beside Soma showing up.

This episode takes place sometime before the second season, before the Autumn Elections Preliminaries. Erina is at a loss for what to do during summer vacation after finishing her schedule early for the day, so Alice takes her to a public pool.
