Hokey but enjoyable speculation of the inspirations Baum employed to create Oz benefits mostly from a well-cast Ritter as the can-do storyteller. Amusingly interweaves elements of the Oz story with Baum's 'real life', but it's unfortunate that O'Toole couldn't have more to her role than be a one-note hysteric. As it is, charming and enjoyable if taken on its own terms as a family-friendly TV movie.
