Because I think way too much about these things: Granicek is NOT an Albanian name! Now that that's off my chest... This is a movie-length pilot for a series that NBC declined to pick up. Apparently they couldn't get any competent writers on board...the plot is idiotic, and the dialogue terrible. The only--I mean ONLY--reason to watch this is to enjoy Bette Davis's nervy delivery of her lines. Doug McClure, an appealing enough TV actor, just looks confused most of the time.

This was a pilot for a series that never materialized. You can see why. Although Davis and McClure are fine (or fineish in McClure's case), the "do what I say or I'll chuck you in the slammer" character dynamic isn't great. The plot of the pilot is terrible. The mystery is so uninteresting that the film keeps chucking irrelevant nonsense into every scene to keep it lively.
