Attempting to tackle such a thorny and relevant issue with both tact and gusto should be commended, and The State (mostly) manages to achieve this. Four episodes that fly past, with compelling storylines, decent performances, and a sense of real drama throughout. The main gripe is with the Brits themselves: Everything moves a tad too fast for their characters to be fully developed, and the naivety with which they join ISIS and discover its brutality seems altogether too much to swallow.
