It's pretty incredible what they were able to do with such a limited TV budget here. It's hard not to think of him as a grizzly cowboy but Jack Palance gives a surprising and enthusiastic performance. After a short while you think of him less and less as cow poke. But what is most remarkable is his turn as the meek Dr. Jekyll. I'm sure Dan Curtis deserves most of the credit here for making this a true compelling effort from the cast and crew.

Interesting to hear all that Dark Shadows music coming up in the background (even though most of it has been reorchestrated). Palance practically seems born for this role, and he brings a delicacy and subtlety to the Jekyll side that is quite refreshing and engaging. Good script and direction, and though it hits the 2-hour mark it never really seems to drag. I could definitely have done without the Major Themes echoey doctors'-meeting VO replay toward the end though.
