[through season 10] Apes the format of early seasons of American Top Chef to a fault. While the US version of Top Chef gradually moved toward a more conversational, informative style that celebrated food (perhaps influenced by the trends pioneered by Bourdain), the Canadian version of the show remains attached to faux-drama, spastic editing, and other early reality-TV tropes. When combined with less charismatic judges and weaker contestants, this show pales in comparison to the original.
