This low-key short film showcases the brand of gritty realism and naturalistic performances that we see in some of Pawlikowski's later films. The handheld camerawork belies the careful composition and mise-en-scene of most shots. The young actors in the film feel less like actors and more like the true inhabitants of their surroundings.
