Surprisingly well done.

The longer running time doesn't really add much substance in comparison to the 78 version but it's still a good story. Goes even harder for the WWII allusions but I'm not sure that's to the story's benefit. Now instead of a truncated mess the narrative feels like a sluggish mess, although both manage to do surprisingly little harm to the story. Characters and voice acting are still strong enough. Animation style and music are more heavy-handed and bland than in the original movie.

Have never seen an animated film/series quite like this...
