i always love the little accumulated details and margins of jd's stuff but don't necessarily connect to what's going on in the foreground. no such problem here, this is my favourite of his so far (although i had to knock a point off for that corny ass final note). well worth 53 minutes of everybody's time; imagine demme doing a matias pineiro movie?

Who Am I This Time? estreava há 40 anos na TV norte-americana.

This is the hidden gem of Jonathan Demme's near-perfect 80s run. It actually makes a pretty compelling, compact case for his various talents, what with the way he elevates an unusually simple Vonnegut story into a moving study of small-town communities and a fascinating look at why actors choose to act in the first place. Sometimes it shows its TV movie roots, but the performances from Sarandon, Christopher Walken and Robert Ridgley and Demme's inventive filmmaking ultimately transcend this.
