Theo Angelopoulos

Post by Spunkie »

Angelopoulos died at the age of seventyseven in a motorcycle accident last night. The cruel irony. May he rest in peace.

I haven't watched any of his films to my shame. There certainly are people here that can have a word or two.

RIP.

I haven't seen any of his films, either, but I don't see how this is ironic or cruel....unless he spent the early part of his career filming motorcycle safety PSA's or something.

If you survived for 77 years, you may as well die of old age :?

But that's still not irony. ;)

Maybe dying of old age was the last thing he wanted. Maybe he preferred to go out like Lawrence of Arabia.

Hey I've not seen any of his before. Where's a good place to start?

His repeatedly brought up film is Ulysses' Gaze, where Eternity and a Day follows.

I've only seen "Landscape in the Mist", but it was great (and you hear it from a guy who usually hates such slow-paced films).

Eternity and a Day is a brilliant film. 90/100.
