Abattoir

I want to like this movie, mostly because its conclusion is not entirely without merit, but the execution is terrible. Characters speak in a patois so thick I sometimes had to stop and ask myself if whatever I was listening to was actually English. It made me think the setting was something like the fifties, only to be surprised it was actually modern America. It lacks subtlety, the pacing is off, and the conversations sound as though they'd be more comfortable living within the pages of a book.

Despite visual merits this is avoidable. Adapted from a graphic novel, the concept of murder rooms being collected seems much more strongly suited to that format. Not to keep banging this drum every time I watch a horror movie but silently playing in the background is the ideal condition for viewing. I should start a collection of movies recommended for ignoring while you scroll on your phone. Off the top of my head it's this and 2015's Southpaw. Ohhh shots fired!
