Children of Sorrow

When, oh when will this "found footage" fad end? Or at least make it so the hand-held camera stuff doesn't look like the camera was being held by someone with cerebral palsy? Somewhat interesting idea, and it certainly is disturbing. Horror will always be one of my least favorite movie genres, so unless a flick transcends it somehow and achieve some sort of actual art, I'm probably not going to like it much.

One of those more slow-burning horror movies about a cult, in the vein of "Sound of My Voice" and "The Sacrament" but lesser known. Children of Sorrow is very watchable, but has an off-beat narrative structure. It dwells at length on how the cult leader mind-controls the youth, and finally hops into (and out of) some of the grisly horror bits abruptly. It's not even linear. There is no sense of escalation, and relatively little tension. Still above average.

Unexpected, better than I thought it would be, though not as good as it should've been. Crap poster, okay film
