Criminal Lawyer (1937)
Barry Brandon, a criminal lawyer, visits the night club of Denny Larkin, his primary client, with Betty Walker, a spoiled society girl. The police raid the club and Brandon pleads that the whole group is guilty, just to get even with Larkin for a rebuke. On the same night in court, Madge Carter is on trial for disorderly conduct, and Brandon volunteers to defend her, and proves the case against her if a frame-up. (imdb)

Past his prime Lee Tracy is still the best thing about this RKO vehicle. But that might be more to do with him being offered lesser scripts after falling out of favor with his bad behavior. This certainly wasn't a well written film suited for Tracy's gag-a-second mouth. And the direction was slow and at times dead. Thankfully Tracy is the type to liven things up whenever needed so at times you see the Tracy we all know and love. As a film it's very average with some minor enjoyable moments.
