Variety star Kaja falls in love with fisherman Peter. But he in a unfortunate situation kills a man and is sentenced to ten years imprisonment. Kaja promises to wait for him, but things goes badly for her, and when she stands at the prison gate on the day of his release he doesn't recognizes her....

Took a while before got interesting, when her man gets put in jail and she waits for him deteriorating gradually with psychological breakdowns and a drunken lifestyle. This role gave her the chance to experiment with her aging. By this point in her career she was already middle-aged, and she was always more of a personality then a beauty as a actress, so the downfall wasn't all that hard for her to do. It's a decent piece which comes nicely together for the climax.
