Empire of the Dark

This Steve Barkett ego/passion-project is surprisingly charming in its cheesy B-movie quaintness. In the vein of similar "Black Tank-Top" vanity projects as John De Heart's "Road to Revenge"(1993), Barkett follows up his directorial debut, "The Aftermath"(1982) with another crafted role as the mustachioed action star. Although not actually a good movie, it contains enough low-rent charms with its fair share of "so-bad-it's-good" spice to make it a solid watch for fans of bad B-movies.

Started to make me think of Road to Revenge, if that had been made by the most humble and understated badass instead of some dork living out some dorkshit fantasy. This is full of c-grade beauty and awesomeness, a happy surprise. The music must be stolen, it's too good.
