Worth it alone to listen to Zarah Leander deep vocals! She plays an foreign Opera star who comes to a small town and reveals that she's really a native, facing old ghosts that 8 years ago forced her to run away. Most notably her father and a former lover. She thinks she's strong enough to handle them coming off as a success abroad, but soon finds it hard to manage. The movie is one of the few made in Germany during this period which has artistic merit while also having commercial appeal.
