Holy Lands

Hollander's brief appearances are the only redeeming moments in a film that incredulously weaves a banal family story into pretentious melodrama that half-heartedly peppers in political theory, religion, and pig-farming with no substantial conviction. Holy Lands isn't just tedious, but frustrating as it works its way through a spastic narrative structure. Not only are the characters barely likable, but Sthers somehow makes human issues (cancer, familial strain, living) less relatable.

Caan is great but the story is a total mess.
