In 1913 there was TWO major Italian production of The Last Days of Pompeii. And I would say Jone ovvero gli ultimi giorni di Pompei (1913) has the upper hand as far as details to it's production. They frame the shots elaborately. Acting wise, not as engaging, but it's done in a more natural tone. Less importance attached to the actual destruction of Pompeii. There is some nicely red tinted fire and smoke scenes to symbolize the tragedy. It definitely rivals Gli ultimi giorni di Pompeii,
