A really interesting take on a subject that seems to have been done to death. Not as informative as some, but more entertaining than most. Definitely more original.

Kurt Cobain was an interesting fella, I admire him a lot. For me though, random shots of non descript places and people while an interview is played in the background isn't the best way to make a documentary. I was never bored especially though, which was probably down to the killer soundtrack.

Not worth it if you're not a Nirvana fan.

It takes a while before the movie gets to its full speed. Maybe some more actual footage or records would've been fine and all those moving pictures that accompany Kurt's thoughts are a bit awkward sometimes, but nevertheless a must-see for every Nirvana fan.

"AJ Schnack's Kurt Cobain: About a Son is as gripping and revealing as Gus Van Sant's Last Days was hollow and pointless." - Sal Cinquemani

I haven't read the book, and I suppose after this I don't need to. Interesting stuff, but I've pretty much heard all of it before. It's nice to hear Cobain speak, though. The visuals are often a bit pointless, but do add something to the package.

I have very special feelings towards this film. I've watched it maybe 6 or 7 times (when I was an angry teenager, obviously) and it pretty much summoned my middle-school experience. The alienation, the stupid people all around you and the humiliation. But something happened. I grew up, and this film did not. So this film will always remind me of the special moments which shaped the person I am today, even though the film itself never got over that teenage-rage phrase.
