Latif

Latif is clearly a very stylistic movie with swift fast-paced editing and cool angles. Very much of the Soviet mold of the time. Sadly the storyline gets muffled with the foreign title cards, the rural Soviet political agenda and all the fancy flashbacks which makes it difficult to understand when or where we are. There is still something about the story of Latif the resourceful and under-appreciated child and the way it's mediated that makes one think that this is a good movie underneath.
