When Steve and Lucky bring a herd to market, Lucky gets into trouble and hides on an outgoing wagon train. Steve finds him and is about to bring him back when they are attacked and the leader killed. A tightly knitted action western which entertained regardless of the terrible print I saw. In Lawless Plainsmen (1942) we see Russell Hayden, who went from being William Boyd's sidekick in the Hopalong Cassidy series to being the sidekick of Charles Starrett in another more hard-hitting series of westerns, fighting Indians together. Not a dull moment, though it's cliché heaven. What helps is Cliff Edwards as guest as the third wheel softening things up with songs and jokes. A valued appearance.
