It sure has its strong moments -- the permanent sense of everyday despair involving each story (the little kid seeing his unknown dad in every bus driver, the talented teen trying to make it in football, the motoboy balancing being a dad with his job and eventually a life in crime, the evangelical dealing with the pressures of religion while working at a gas station, and finally the lonely mom expecting another child). But everything also feels so heavy-handed. Finale is kinda lame.

Engaging tale of 4 brothers' struggles to find themselves in the unforgiving maelstrom of Sao Paulo. The action sequences (especially the football) are shot with real dynamism and the ending is left bravely open but the themes are well worn.
