My True Story

Mickey Rooney try his hands at directing. My True Story with Helen Walker as the center of attention being his first try. And it looks simple and nice. Not too many characters complicating stuff. Where it fails is the lack of excitement. Doesn't make characters interesting enough to feel that connection, nor danger from the bad men. Or at the very least becomes too subtle to become a memorable experience. And that's the biggest surprise considering Rooney was never exactly a toned down guy.
