Pierrot et Pierrette, brother and sister, live in a caravan with their grandfather, the former ringmaster of a circus. To earn a living, they sing in the streets, and their lives are happy. But a charitable lady interferes, determined to put grandfather in an old folks' home and the children in an orphanage. Pierrot and Pierrette run away, and fall into the hands of a travelling vendor who wants to use them for burglaries. (imdb)

Louis Feuillade follows a formula that was very successful for him through the 1910s. The charm of a child. Back in the old days he made success with the Bout-de-Zan series starring René Poyen, which basically predates what Chaplin did with the kid in The Kid (1921). Now that Poyen is grown up he plays more the mentor role for a female version of Bout-de-Zan in a little girl called Bouboule, a spitting image of how Poyet himself looked as a child. The story is a little thin and cute.
