Alluring exotic atmosphere, but I'm not sure what else is here. Cold imperialistic white folks and potentially dangerous natives kept down like dogs. A bubbling human darkness.... but besides that an empty experience where Ann Harding didn't seem to fit all that well in. Not Adolphe Menjou either. But surprisingly Melvyn Douglas had moments where he came across like a hard man!
