The Secret Service (1931) during the American Civil War as Richard Dix goes undercover. Based on a stage play and feels like a stage play. It's the early-30s so the average production was going to be fairly stagnant. Dix goes a bit overboard with his acting. I've rarely seen him show this much aggression with his dialogue.... so this had fire.
