Silent Valley

After seeing Pinto Canyon (1940), I tracked down the original version from 1935 called Silent Valley (1935), also directed by Bernard B. Ray. The two films are different enough not to be called a shot-by-shot remake, but I'd say the 1940 film was slightly, for the simple reason that Bob Steele held his own a little bit better than Tom Tyler's uneven performance in this one. I did sort of enjoy that rough fist-fight at the end, but little else connected.
