The Babes in the Woods

A 1917 short-feature, though what exists of this originally 50-min film is too short to be considered a feature todays with it's existing 36-mins (don't know if any longer versions are out there). What I saw was a real entertaining adaptation of the Brother's Grimm tale. Uses mainly child actors, including the Messinger family, including Gertrude who would become a regular in westerns in the 1930s. And with the child element it becomes a film full of charm well worth seeing for silent film fans.
