The period is the 1820's and the first wagon train leaves Independence heading west to Santa Fe. In order to maintain his power, the ruthless Official at Santa Fe must not let them arrive and he sends out his men to stop them. The wagon train then has to endure repeated attacks but is aided by a mysterious rider that shoots singing arrows and rides a painted stallion. (imdb)

A 12 episode wagon train serial tying in some of history's big names of the west and hiring washed-up cowboy stars to act them. The Painted Stallion is a action-packed serial. There is a certain extra effort to make this story work even if all the horse rising and shooting made it a bit repetitive at times. Not too different compared to the many B-westerns at the time, but with so many characters and filling this with lots of cool stunts, it becomes a pleasant one.
