This is actually a paired-down abridged movie version of the 2007 Chinese TV drama The Spirit of The Sword. The movie squeezes 40, 45-minute episodes into a 100-minute "movie". You get abbreviated fights, a couple of out of nowhere monologues, and not much more. I spent the whole movie thinking, who, what, where, why while scratching my head.
