This opened the Rio 2012 summit and Gaffney is a "communications consultant": the film reflects these two facts in the way it functions as both a kind of semi-official statement and an advertisement for the "opportunity" presented to us to change humanity's direction. It declares, "We have shaped our past, we are shaping our present, we can shape our future", but this message is as likely to obscure the real issues as it is to mobilise collective will and intelligence for planet-saving change.
