Comment on reviews

Now if someone writes something stupid, awesome or hilarious I have to send them a PM telling them about it if I am so inclined to do so. I think it would be useful if there was a drop down underneath the reviews that users can comment on.

I can see how this would end up being tantamount to negative reviews, where user A tells user B how stupid B is for giving a bad review to a favorite film of A's.

I got the idea from goodreads.com after they went on and on about how much better that site is then this one. I asked for suggestions to make criticker better and this was one of the ones that they all seemed to want. It works for them there so why wouldn't it work for us here?

It would all depend on how people use/abuse it. There are idiots in here who get quite upset if you trash a favorite film of theirs. I know I've received PMs on this...why take such fights out in the open?

This is an interesting idea, but runs contrary to one of our central ideas of encouraging only positive feedback. That's the reason we allow stars, but not "thumbs down". So, I don't think we'll be enacting this in the foreseeable future, but it's good to know how other communities think we can improve the site.
