In order to build up attendance, and win Hope's attention, Harold runs through town causing trouble, and winds up with a crowd chasing him right into the mission. Well executed but unexceptional one-reeler about a couple of incompetent paperhangers. James Parrott, brother of Charley Chase, was an equally skilled man behind the camera, later writing and directing some of Roach's best two-reelers, before he died too young, but while the gags here are well done, he never really developed much of a personality in these pieces and they are not, somehow, quite as sharp as the stuff he was co-starring in with Sid Saylor two or three years before. The second and last of Eddie Cantor's silent vehicles, Special Delivery casts the wide-eyed comedian as a hapless mailman. While going through his swiftly appointed rounds, Eddie stumbles upon a gang of crooks who are planning a large-scale confidence scam. He exposes the villains and wins the love of heroine Madge (Jobyna Ralston). Though Cantor was a fine physical comic, he didn't truly score in films until the arrival of talkies allowed his fans to hear as well as see him.

In this 1922 Pathe-distributed, Hal Roach silent-era comedy, the owner of a local streetcar business is in danger of losing his franchise, but the streetcar operator (played by Paul Parrott) and his girl friend (who happens to be the boss's daughter; portrayed by Jobyna Ralston) try to save the day.

Paul (James Parrott) is practicing the art of being a cowboy. He consults a book before firing his gun, climbing onto a saddle on top of a chair and then falling off and dressing his wounds. He then gets back on his 'saddle' and fires his gun again, this time in the direction of another man (whom I believe to be Wallace Howe) who has just entered the room. Paul leaves abruptly and rides into town on a horse, and straight through a crowded saloon.

The setting is a shoe store and the action is pretty frenetic. You get to see Paul lose the store's money, catch a shoe thief, knock down a bunch of shelves and more.

At the Second Annual Athletic Meet, "The Fat Men's Race" is open to anybody ~ under a ton and a half... The entries are 'Hippo' (Loback) and 'Rhino' (Parrott) who get on the scales to be weighed. Rhino is assisted by extra padding and a third leg supplied by Wallace Howe on the scales in an attempt to boost his weight. The judge spots his attempts to cheat and orders Rhino to carry extra weight in order to qualify for the race so he is stuffed with filled sacks.

Ralston runs away from the house of ill fame and takes shelter with miner Fairbanks and his pals in their hut. This causes some unease but all is is forgotten when a fire in the mine traps Doug and calls out the rescue effort. (imdb)

Paul and Jobyna are newlyweds and Paul's father-in-law rents them a house. During a storm some nearby campers are wrecked and wrapping their tent about them they seek shelter in the nearest house which belongs to the newlyweds. The white-draped figures are taken for "spooks" creating an opportunity for the usual gags. (The Film Daily, 1922)

The heir to a family business travels to Paris to try to stop his youth-obsessed mother from squandering the family fortune with her new husband, who married her for her money. After he returns from service in World War I, he finds his mother broke and abandoned by her gigolo husband. In an ironic turn of events, he winds up squiring rich old women around Paris' nightlife, becoming the kind of gigolo from which he tried to save his mother. (imdb)

Paul, a great college athlete, is sent to his uncle's farm to be developed, but turns against the continual round of chores. And at the table he is continually elbowed aside by the huskier farmhands, until he gives up in disgust. But a last attempt to understand the intricacies of the tractor results in his demolishing the house, and the farmer's daughter aids his escape.
