Richard Diamond is a suave private investigator, who, at first, walks the mean streets of New York City, then later packs up and moves to Los Angeles, California, where he tools around in a convertible with a car phone. His sexy receptionist Sam, whose face we never see, minds the office, while Diamond solves his cases.

Escaping the law, Jim Parker arrives in a town that is controlled by Higgins and his crony Judge. While robbing the stage with Jeff Johnson, outlaws Jordan and Wilkins kill the stage guard and leave Jeff unconscious on the trail, to be picked up by pursuing U.S. Marshals Tom Yeager and "Hungry" Rogers. Posing as an outlaw, Tom is put in the same cell with Jeff, and, with Hungry's help, stages a jailbreak and takes Jeff with him on the latter's promise to lead him to an outlaw gang head by the supposedly-dead Bill Moore.

Trailed by Marshal Charley Blythe (Stanley Price), who thinks they are part of the Cyclone Kid (John Cason)bandit gang, Shamrock Ellison (James Ellison) and Lucky Hayden (Russell Hayden), are attacked by the outlaws. Blythe helps the pair drive off the outlaws but is wounded in the process and stops to recuperate. The Cyclone Kid has plans to take over an oil-rich ranch, which by right belongs to Shamrock, though he doesn't know it.

Wild Bill Elliot plays gambler Frank Graham, who heads to Kansas in search of his father’s murderer. This being 1864, the local military presence is more preoccupied with keeping Southern sympathizers out of the state to worry about Graham’s problems. After a series of bank robberies, Jim Levering (Bill Elliott) as Wild Bill Elliott) and his gang decide to hide out for awhile in Deer Creek where bard-and-casino owner Mack Wilson (Harry Lauter)) is the overlord. Wilson runs a protection racket and the town merchants have to pay him to keep operating. Jim moves in, planning to eventually take over Wilson's racket for himself.
