The Thursday Murder Club (2025) - Rated 19 Sep 2025
"Chris Columbus once more excels at squeezing mediocrity out of any material given, throwing out everything that made the source novel special, be it wit, charm or lovable characters and making the film look like it was a BBC saturday night production despite it’s certainly high budget."

Shadow (2018) - Rated 06 Sep 2025
"Audiovisually masterful (I mean, we’re talking Zhang Yimou here), politically likely highly propagandic (I mean, we’re talking post-HERO Zhang Yimou here) but basically indecipherable for ignorant Westerners (see last bracket), a bit silly for a bit (something shot this beautifully should not have CGI as shoddy as the knife umbrellas), pretty damn awesome with all those caveats."

Lilo & Stitch (2025) - Rated 06 Sep 2025
"It was obviously always going to be unnecessary and mercenary, but it did not need to be so utterly soulless or shot like a cheap TV movie with inexplicablly expensive CGI."

Lisa Frankenstein (2024) - Rated 17 Aug 2025
"It’s probably time to realize I don’t like Cody’s scripts. Scenes don’t build up to each other or follow in any discernible logic, the characters are just a collection of a few quirks each and jokes are hard to find."

War of the Worlds (2025) - Rated 06 Aug 2025
"There‘s a general inflation of the term „worst movie ever“ that leaves us as a civilization unprepared for utter disasters that only come around a few times in a lifetime like this glorious abomination that fails at every conceivable level."

Zu: Warriors of the Magic Mountain (1983) - Rated 29 Jul 2025
"Dozens of things to nitpick, but also a rather unique experience in the timeline of cinema, catching one of the most visionary directors we have at a transition"

Where the Crawdads Sing (2022) - Rated 22 Jul 2025
"The shots of nature are so nice you’ll consider moving to the bayou (don’t! It’s wet and full of things that might eat you and no chance is hell is that house still looking like that after 10+ years), and the main actresses are very good, but the story is very basic and so predictable the last scene seriously confused me in a „wait, is that supposed to be a twist?!?“ way."

Beautiful Boy (2018) - Rated 22 Jul 2025
"So, on the one hand this is a very realistic portray of addiction and it’s effects on family structures (drug counselor of 17 years writing here) and the acting is as good as one would expect it from the cast, but dialogue and direction are very unexceptional, so I’d recommend it for the topic but not as a movie as such."
