"Portrait of a man who started in magic and escape artistry to be a modern day Houdini, but who took his intellect and applied it to exposing the fake physics and faith healers of the 70s and 80s. The film itself is a good solid no frills biopic but Randi's life story is the amazing centerpiece. The MacLab segment had my jaw on the floor. A true chess-not-checkers thinker and as the film notes, we should be happy he chose to be one of the good guys."

"The Wire and Friday Night Lights are my two favorite TV shows ever. From coach's wife Connie Britton on down the line, the ensemble of female characters is the best written, best acted, and most beautiful of all time. Every character on the show has struggles and is a three dimensional person. American television literally does not get better than this."

"Amazing crowd pleaser of a film. Very much a movie in three acts. Delroy Lindo is a standout, fantastic character for him that reminded me of Mifune in Seven Samurai. Best single-actor-playing-twins performance since Social Network or Dead Ringers or maybe ever. Might single handedly bring back blues guitar music? and I found the dance scene brilliant within the context of the film's universe. Minor, but the non-diagetic soundtrack is a overwrought in scenes where it should be subdued or silent."

"Saw it in Portland. Interesting gimmick of being partially generative, it shows mostly in visual art interstitials but it does lead to some abrupt tonal shifts in the editing. The film itself is mostly framed around Eno as a now 76 year old working and living in his home, punctuated by his uniquely extensive journals and reminiscences on working with Roxy Music, David Bowie, David Byrne et al. Eno himself is a consummate man with his head in the clouds but charming and smart."
