"A great film, where Clint Eastwood does "grumpy old man" at his best. The main story (the decline of Detroit, gangs, Asian immigration) is compelling, as so is the background story of Walt. Nobody is gonna send him to a an old folks' home!"

"Maybe most of the film's appeal relies on the story itself, what an amazing feat it was to survive a plane crash under harsh mountain conditions, and the mental strength it took to keep going. Knowing the story already from a recent first-account documentary, everything else did not impress me. The acting so-so, the writing plain. Also, yet another recent movie that didn't need to be over 2 hours."
