"This makes "Juno" look like a cartoon. This is the second time Reitman and Cody have worked together now, and I much prefer this film. I'm probably in the minority with that opinion, but I found this to be a more realistic and humanistic story. While "Juno" is hilarious and does have its fair share of emotion, it still comes across as a bit full of itself whereas "Young Adult" is more subtle, dark, and real."

90 68% Hugo (2011) - Rated 03 Jan 2012
"I only have one problem with this otherwise sensational movie. It's being marketed as this grand mystery film and Indiana Jones-esque type adventure. It is neither of these things and someone going into the film expecting such excitement will likely be disappointed. However, it is exciting in every other way possible and is one of the most magical films of the past few years."
85 54% The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) - Rated 03 Jan 2012
"David Fincher did a fabulous job here incorporating his dynamic vision and making the film a unique visual experience. I just expected more artistic freedom in terms of the adaptation. If it wasn't so completely loyal to the source material, especially the first hour and last half hour, this film would have been a home run."
68 26% Higher Ground (2011) - Rated 31 Dec 2011
"Her performance is sensational, but her direction is a little lacklustre. In my opinion, she should have picked either director or actor for this project, not both. I respect her work and this film, I do think it's a good one overall. It has a strong opening and conclusion, but it's a little muddled in the middle. I think with a better director, this could have been a great film, but what it turned out to be was a lesson in directing for Farmiga."
81 44% Moneyball (2011) - Rated 31 Dec 2011
""Moneyball" is not just a baseball film, it's an intricate character study that transcends its surface subject. It could have actually been one of the best films of the year, but instead it has to settle for just 'great'. Its flaws are few, but my biggest problem is that it does everything you'd think a baseball movie would do. Aside from its real life story, this is basically every baseball movie ever made put together into one hodge-podge spectacular."
94 79% Poetry (2010) - Rated 31 Dec 2011
""Poetry" is one of the gentlest movies of the year, yet one of the most devastating. Jeong-hie Yun gives one of the best performances of the year, it's simply heartbreaking. Her monologue alone in the scene where she confesses her fondest memory in her poetry class should earn her an Oscar nomination, but sadly, AMPAS voters, for some reason, don't respond well to foreign language performances."
