Weapons (2025) - Rated 25 Oct 2025
Pretty much the opposite of what I expected. The mystery itself was underwhelming, but the slice of life with a modern fairytale twist worked quite well. Good performances and the movie balanced between serious/tragic/scary/comedy very well.

Malignant (2021) - Rated 19 Oct 2025
Well this was bonkers stupid, and apparently on purpose. It has the plot and the dialogue of a cheap soap, but still plays it dead serious. I don't know what more to say about it really. It's obviously very bad but apparently on purpose. Definitely one of those "so bad it's kinda good" films.

Doctor Sleep (2019) - Rated 18 Oct 2025
A sequel to The Shining always felt like a really stupid idea, so despite many positive recommendations I was very skeptical. But the movie was actually very good. Tonally very different from The Shining and while at first I thought the connection between the two movies worked surprisingly well, but in the final act it became a bit too much. I did not like Ferguson's over the top acting, but otherwise the cast was very good.

Tron: Ares (2025) - Rated 12 Oct 2025
Decent action Decent soundtrack Poor acting Stupid story Absolutely dreadful dialogue I was hoping for another excellent music video, like Tron: Legacy, but the movie got in the way of that way too often. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone, even if it has a few good moments in terms of action and music.

Infinity Pool (2023) - Rated 07 Oct 2025
Towards the end it gets a bit out of hand, tiresome and even a bit annoying to watch. But until then I was fully on board.

Strange Darling (2023) - Rated 05 Oct 2025
I'm trying to rate this as the movie it was. The one trick that it does, showing the story "out of order", kinda works, and makes it a bit more interesting. But if you make the mistake of thinking of how mediocre and stupid that story "in order", this movie has very little to offer. Gallner is pretty good, Fitzgerald is aggressively bad, and sadly it's the latter who's supposed to carry the film. About one third of the film could have been cut out, and the dialogue is among the worst I've seen.

The Exorcist III (1990) - Rated 03 Oct 2025
As a big fan of the original, I was quite optimistic when I heard that this is a detective movie, AND that people actually like it, many even thinking it's great. Well, I don't know why. Yes, the film has its moments, but all in all I don't think it's very good. It is very slow, and while I think the dialogue is pretty good in itself, its contribution to the film feels kinda flimsy, and as the end result the film feels like it's dragging all the time.

Baghead (2023) - Rated 25 Sep 2025
A pretty good but typical small budget horror film. Small cast - check. Limited locations - set. An intriguing premise that gets dumber and makes less sense as the movie goes on - check. A lackluster finale - check. All in all I did enjoy this, and I especially liked Freya Allan's performance, but, as is pretty much always the case with these small budget films, the interesting beginning didn't hold up until the end.
