Choke (2008) - Rated 01 Oct 2008

One of the funniest movies of the year. A really devious, fun, sexy experience.

Miracle at St. Anna (2008) - Rated 01 Oct 2008

Painfully long and lacking any coherent message. I understand what Spike Lee wanted to do, but it's clear that he never got a grasp on how to make it happen.

Eagle Eye (2008) - Rated 01 Oct 2008

The most absurd movie I've seen all year. A few good action sequences that were Michael Bay-esque, but I was otherwise unimpressed.

Ghost Town (2008) - Rated 01 Oct 2008

Ricky Gervais makes it all work, otherwise it's just another canned mainstream comedy.

Appaloosa (2008) - Rated 01 Oct 2008

What started out as a good 'ole fashion western gunslinger flick turned into quite possibly the most girly western of all-time. Too many emotions flying, not enough bullets.

Blindness (2008) - Rated 01 Oct 2008

A very well-made, ambitious project. Solid cast, solid visual delivery, but the story gets a bit flat somewhere in between acts one and two.

Flash of Genius (2008) - Rated 01 Oct 2008

Greg Kinnear gives a very strong performance, though it's a character we've seen from him before. The film overall is good, but drawn out.
