"A visually stunning and beautiful film. There are some scenes in this movie that I'll never forget. The dark and menacing scenes with the Titular monster are enjoyable and engaging. But the more he was shown, the less scary he became. His design, although historically accurate, came off less Vlad the Impaler, and more Eggman from Sonic for me. The finale fizzles out after a strong set up, and the daylight exchanges between the clever doctors can go on for too long."

"A solid monster film, the practical boar looked decent and had presence. For a relatively silly concept it manages to pull off making the thing genuinely threatening. The main performances ranged from solid to meh, but overall serviceable(John Jarratt is the standout), but there was a lot of time spent on characterizing the rural town which the titular boar never enters. I don't mind it as it had charm, but it doesn't service the plot much and some may find it pointless."
